Temple of Heaven: Located in Beijing, the Temple of Heaven is a remarkable complex of Taoist buildings built in 1420 during the Ming dynasty. Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties used to visit this place annually to perform ceremonies and pray for bountiful harvests. The park surrounding the temple buzzes with life, especially in the mornings when local elderly residents gather for singing, exercising, and practicing tai chi. Spanning 273 hectares in the south of Central Beijing, the park offers a pleasant 1-1½ hour (1½ kilometer) walk, graded as easy.

Mutianyu Great Wall: The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is renowned for its stunning scenery and well-preserved architecture, making it the top-ranked Great Wall section on TripAdvisor. This section is ideal for families with children, as it provides various ways to explore. It is approximately a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Beijing. In 1986, a 2½-kilometer section was completely restored.

Mutianyu Great Wall

To optimize your time, we have arranged a round-trip cable car experience for ascending and descending the Wall, eliminating the need for climbing steps that would take around 40 minutes. Upon reaching the Wall, you will have free time to explore and appreciate the surroundings, following a brief introduction from your guide.

The Forbidden City: Located in the heart of Beijing, the Forbidden City served as the imperial residence for 24 emperors during the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) dynasties. Jinshan Park (overlooking the Forbidden City): Previously a part of the Forbidden City, Jinshan Park lost some structures when walls were torn down and a road was built in the early 1900s. Interestingly, the park’s hill was created using soil excavated to construct the palace moat. On clear days, the climb to Jinshan Park rewards visitors with breathtaking panoramic views of the Forbidden City and Beijing.

Tiananmen Square: Situated in central Beijing, Tiananmen Square is the largest city square in the world. Its name is derived from the Tiananmen (Gate of Heavenly Peace) located to the north, separating it from the Forbidden City. Summer Palace: Located in the northwest of Beijing, approximately 9 miles (15 kilometers) from downtown, the Summer Palace stands as the largest and most well-preserved royal park in China. The palace’s influence on Chinese horticulture and landscape design is significant. During your visit, you will explore the park for approximately 2 hours (covering 2 kilometers) on foot.

The Terracotta Warriors and Horses: Unearthed accidentally in 1974, the Terracotta Warriors and Horses are a remarkable army consisting of over 7,000 soldiers, archers, horses, and chariots, standing in full battle formation. These figures have been guarding Emperor Qin’s tomb since 210 BC. Each warrior is unique, and ongoing meticulous restoration and excavation work can be witnessed in the three protected pits housed within expansive hangars. Located about 1.5 hours from Xian, there is also an exceptional museum where you can learn about the history of the vaults through informative exhibits and a fascinating film. Ancient City Wall: The ancient city wall is a remarkable testament to the city’s history, featuring walls, ramparts, gates, and watchtowers that comprise one of the oldest and most well-preserved city defenses in existence. Originally built in the 13th century on the foundations of the Tang Forbidden City, the wall surrounds the city center area. You have the option to explore the wall on foot or, for an additional cost, rent a bike (CNY 40 per person) or an electric cart (CNY 80 per person) to traverse the full 14-kilometer circuit.
