Suggested Itinerary
Here is a suggested itinerary. We are happy to customize a tour according to your interests and schedule.
Your knowledgeable guide and driver will meet you outside of the airport or railway station. They will transfer you directly to the hotel in Xiamen. You can have a rest in the hotel or explore on your own. Ask your private guide for tips.
You will spend a day exploring Xiamen — one of China’s most leisurely cities — and Gulangyu Island. You will start with South Putuo Temple, famous for its Tang Dynasty origins, Buddhist relics, and views from Wulao Peak of Xiamen University and the port.
Then you will enjoy a seafood lunch near Gulangyu Island, and visit Hulishan Fortress, built in 1891 with Ming-Qing architectural styles, home to the world’s largest and smallest cannons, and historic military structures.
You will take a 10-minute ferry to Gulangyu Island, stroll among its European-style buildings, browse boutiques for souvenirs, and visit Sunlight Rock Park and Shuzhuang Garden, using electric carts to explore comfortably. .
After breakfast in Xiamen, you will head to Tianluokeng Tulou in Nanjing County. Set in Shangban Village, this famous cluster of four round and one rectangular earthen buildings is among the most magnificent and best-preserved Hakka castles, and the village is honored as a Famous Historic Cultural Village of China.
Next, you’ll head to the Hekeng Tulou Cluster, known as Mulan’s hometown in the movie Mulan. Here you can step into her earthen home, wander the upstairs rooms usually closed to visitors, sip local tea, and listen to family stories — a warm and authentic taste of Hakka life.
After exploring the Tulou clusters, you will return to Xiamen to prepare for the journey to Wuyi Mountain.
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Xiamen Railway Station. A high-speed train takes about 3 hours to reach Wuyishan City, followed by a 20-minute drive to the Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area.
The scenery of Wuyi Mountain is breathtaking. On your first day, you’ll hike up Tianyou Peak for stunning views, and discover its rich Taoist heritage — Wuyi has long been a sacred Taoist site, with over 1,800 years of history.
After breakfast, you will take a bamboo raft cruise along Jiuqu Stream, drifting past towering peaks, lush greenery, blue skies, and crystal-clear waters. The striking Danxia landform along the river are a true highlight of Mount Wuyi. As you glide downstream, you will also spot ancient stone inscriptions, left by poets and painters who once came here seeking inspiration.
You will see the hanging coffins of Wuyi Mountains, dating back over 3,000 years — the oldest in China. Perched high on the cliffs, their placement remains a mystery, and they stand as a striking symbol of ancient Fujian culture.
Song Ancient Street and Wuyi Palace are near the terminal of Jiuqu Stream.
Your guide will confirm your return trip, escort you to the airport, help you with check-in, and ensure everything goes smoothly before saying goodbye.
