扎染 (zārǎn) is an ancient Chinese fabric art that dates back over 1,000 years, with roots in the Tang (唐朝 Táng cháo) and Ming (明朝 Míng cháo) dynasties.

Using simple tools like fabric, rubber bands, and natural dyes, they folded, twisted, and dipped their way to beautiful, one-of-a-kind patterns. It was not just an art class, but also a chance to connect with Chinese history and pick up a few new Chinese words along the way.
