Movies, Mahjong & Baduanjin: September at That’s Mandarin
Movies, Mahjong & Baduanjin: September at That’s Mandarin
Busy planning your October holiday break?
Wait — let’s take a quick look back at everything we did in September!
What a month 💛
Movie Night
Have you reached the stage in your learning where you can start watching movies in Chinese?
Our students in Beijing and Shanghai just gave it a go!
Good company, popcorn, and lively post-movie discussions – a 牛 (niú) way to spend an evening 🍿✨
Bilingual Corner
Let’s take it futher: how about holding longer discussions about the things you’re interested in?
Our students in Chengdu did just that! Nothing can beat a meaningful, real-life conversation with native speakers.
And it’s always such a joy to see our students to build new friendships 💛
Celebrating 七夕节 Together
At Suzhou campus, students gor a deeper taste of Chinese culture and celebrated 七夕节 (Qīxī Jié) – also known as the Qixi Festival or Chinese Valentine’s Day – by making beautiful handcrafted flowers together.
The ‘Coffee Shop’ Mission
Being able to order your favourite drink in Chinese is a must-have skill in the 21st century!
We take these missions seriously ☕️
Every other Friday, our Intensive Course students take their Chinese to the streets.
Singing in 中文
Another essential skill?
Knowing at least one Chinese song to impress your friends and colleagues.
(Trust us — the day will come!)
Together with our students, we sang, laughed, and turned our Shanghai campus into a KTV room 🕺🏻🪩
Mahjong, Mahjong
If you’ve been studying with That’s Mandarin for a while, chances are you’re already 吃 (chī)-ing, 碰 (pèng)-ing and 杠(gàng)-ing like a pro.
If not yet — what are you waiting for? Join our next Mahjong night and start 胡(hú)-ing 😎🀄️
Baduanjin, or Ancient Qigong
Finally, the highlight of our last week in Shanghai was flowing together with the ancient practice of 八段锦 (Bāduànjǐn).
A truly mindful way to wrap up the month ✨
We can’t wait to organize more exciting cultural and language activities.
See you at the next one!
At That’s Mandarin, we believe language learning goes far beyond the classroom. From real-world experiences to cultural immersion, our Intensive Course helps students connect with Chinese on a deeper, more personal level:
- 5 days a week
- Intensive Chinese study
- Location: one of 5 cities in China
- Cultural activities every month
