Steamed Stuffed Bun Plays Rock & Roll

“包子 (bāozi) stuffed bun,” which is coated with flat dough and stuffed with vegetables, meat, or fine bean mash, is a kind of traditional Chinese food. In this video, “包子 (bāozi) stuffed buns” held a “摇滚演唱会 (yáogǔn yǎnchànghuì) rock and roll concert. ”

There are two traditional Chinese musical instruments that are used during the “演唱会 (yǎnchànghuì) concert.” The first one is called “古筝 (gǔzhēng) Chinese zither.” Contemporary Chinese zithers have 21 strings, each of which delivers different sound. The length of this instrument is approximately 163 centimeters.
The second instrument used by “包子 (bāozi) stuffed bun” is “中国大鼓 (zhōngguó dàgǔ) Chinese red drum,” an instrument originated from China. While both drumsticks and a person’s hands can be used to play the drum, Chinese red drums are played mostly by sticks.
In this video, “包子 (bāozi) stuffed bun” played “双节棍 (shuāngjiégùn) nunchakus” during the show. “双节棍 (shuāngjiégùn) nunchakus” is the weapon used by “李小龙 (Lǐ Xiǎolóng) Bruce Lee.” In Li’s films we often see him fighting his enemy with “双节棍 (shuāngjiégùn) nunchakus.” Take a look at Bruce Lee’s video below:

In contemporary China, there is a very popular song named “双截棍 (shuāng jié gùn)” which also means nunchakus, but with different characters. The song is sung by “周杰伦 (Zhōu Jiélún) Jay Chow,” a very popular singer. Take a look at the MV below:

生词 (shēngcí) Vocabulary

双节棍 (shuāngjiégùn): n nunchakus

“双 (shuāng)” means double. “节 (jié)” means part. “棍 (gùn)” means stick.

Example:

Suīrán dúyīn xiāngtóng, dànshì “shuāngjiégùn” shì zhèngquè de xiéfǎ, “shuāng jié gùn” què búshì
虽然     读音 相同,        但是   “双节棍”            是   正确        的 写法,“双      截     棍”   却  不是。
Though they have the same pronunciation, “双节棍” is the correct written form while “双截棍” is not.

包子 (bāozi): n steamed stuffed bun

“包 (bāo)” means to wrap. “子 (zǐ)” means son. But when “子 (zǐ)” is put after characters, it takes the light tone.

Example:

Bāozi hé mántou de qūbié zàiyú bāozi yǒu xiànr ér mántou méiyǒu.
包子 和 馒头      的 区别   在于   包子 有 馅儿 而 馒头    没有。

The difference between a stuffed bun and steamed bread lies in the fact that the stuffed bun has stuffing and steamed bread has none.
摇滚 (yáogǔn): n rock and roll music

演唱会 (yǎnchànghuì): n concert
